‘Move over Guinness’ – those are the words of a highly respected wine writer for The Guardian who features our Symphonia range in her recommended gins list

IT’S always fantastic to see your product being featured in the media so when Fiona Beckett, the wine writer for The Guardian, featured our Symphonia range in the run up to St Patrick’s Day, we were just delighted.

Fiona’s is the Guardian’s wine writer and she is also a cookery writer and contributing editor to Decanter and Fork magazines.

Her article highlighted the booming gin market in Ireland, north and south, so she featured a list of her preferred gins and suggested readers switch from Guinness and pour a gin instead.

Fiona very kindly sampled Symphonia No 1, No 2 and No 3. She said she liked the whole range but it was the taste of Armagh in our No 2 which very much stood out for her.

In her article she said:  “North of the border the gin scene is also flourishing. One of the latest additions is the Symphonia range devised by former chemist Ulrich Dyer, who uses a variety of hi-tech processes to gently extract the maximum flavour from his botanicals.

“I like the basic gin in the range, but the apple gin, made with Armagh bramley apples and redolent of a good schnapps, is absolutely outstanding.”

She went on to give a final recommendation: “Flavoured with Armagh bramley apples and utterly delicious. Drink on the rocks.”

Our gins are made at The Woodlab Distillery in Benburb in Co Tyrone.  Symphonia is a range of handcrafted Irish spirits celebrating produce grown in the local countryside. The range is distilled by Dr Ulrich Dyer who uses cold distillation to preserve flavours which are lost during traditional distillation.

Symphonia No 1 is a sophisticated Dry Gin of exquisite complexity. This spirit is a beautiful harmony of flavours including rose, basil, dandelion and flowers.

The crisp Apple Gin, which is Symphonia No 2, is made using Co Armagh Bramley Apples.

And the Fruit Cup, Symphonia No 3, is a delicious summer fruit spirit drink inspired by the raspberries and strawberries grown in the garden at The Woodlab Distillery.

A massive thank you to Fiona for taking the time to sample our Symphonia range. This is a beautifully written piece so if you fancy reading the full article here it is:
